lies & sexy dreams

July 3 - August 28, 2015
Lux Center for the Arts
Lincoln, NE

Cultural and political institutions impress upon our lives in conscious and unconscious ways. Without often knowing, we tend to mirror and revere the way these influential institutions confine us. Drawing upon historic and contemporary icons from our collective, daily reality, lies & sexy dreams explores cultural commodification. It addresses the self as a vessel with incessant indoctrination of ideologies, philosophy and spiritual imaginings and how we expunge and restore. Using pop iconography, graphic shapes are synthesized into a seamless, cacophonous flow. This is a flow that harnesses a frenzied vigor; an energy that ricochets between what confines and what we try to reach. The exhibition featured a one night only live performance by the artist.
